Every Unschool Adventure is a mix of planned, structured activities and open space for unplanned, spontaneous activities. Here's what we have planned so far:
We'll take hour-and-a-half-long lessons, five days a week, with Alicia Pons. Alicia travels worldwide to teach Tango, and we are very lucky to have her as our private group instructor. She taught our group of teens on the 2008 Argentina trip for 2 weeks.
Also five days a week, we'll take Spanish language classes. Our group will be broken up into beginner and intermediate classes. This is a golden opportunity to learn Spanish in an immersion environment.
Did we mention that Buenos Aires is HOT in January? We'll be smack-dab in the middle of Argentine summer, and we won't want to go outside much during mid-day. So we'll take our tango and Spanish lessons in the late afternoon, we'll sleep during the day, and... hmm... we're leaving out one important part...
OH YES, the trip is called "Buenos Aires Nights"! We'll spend our nights on the town, seeking out teen-friendly milongas (social tango dances) and generally ripping it up on the dance floor. On "off" nights, we might instead sip cafe con leches at a cafe, visit friends in the city, or take it easy back at our rented apartments.
The Argentines long ago figured out that, during the summer, it only makes sense to sleep late and stay up late. They typically eat dinner at 9-11pm. We're just doing what the natives do.
When we've determined dates and prices for the trip, we'll update everyone on our Facebook fan page that the trip is open for enrollment. Check back soon! Suerte!
